5 tips for cleaning your dog and home
Clean your home stress-free, even with a dog or cat – follow our simple tips for pet care, furniture cleaning, and removing dust and hair.

Whether you’re experiencing the combination of a furry pet and messy weather for the first time, or have been cleaning your way through this period for several years, we have some tips on how to keep your home clean while letting your dog or cat enjoy life both indoors and outdoors.
Remove dust, debris and spills right after your walk
Wipe dirty paws after a walk in bad weather or on wet surfaces. Don't forget that a lot of dirt collects under the abdomen, in folds and on the chest. Sometimes all it takes is a cloth, towel or brush - other times your furry friend needs a shower!
Blow away the problems
If you have a long-haired dog or cat, it's worth investing in a good blow dryer that removes dust and debris from autumn walks, but also loose fur. It really can be a lifesaver during shedding season! Just remember to use the blow dryer outdoors unless you want a fur tornado in your living room.
Leave the dust in the hallway
Most of the dust and dirt dragged in ends up in the hallway - and from there spreads further into the home after changing shoes. Keep the mop or vacuum cleaner near the front door so that it can be quickly pulled out and remove what has accumulated before it spreads throughout the house.

There should be room for cuddling
If you enjoy relaxing on the bed or sofa with your four-legged friend, you have probably noticed how quickly the furniture becomes covered in dust and fur.
To get the fur out of the sofa or bed, we recommend a good old-fashioned rubber glove! It's the static electricity that gets the fur out, so rub quickly in circles for maximum effect!
Suddenly you're standing there with a big fur ball in your hand and fur-free furniture.
It's a bit of heavy work, but we promise - it's much more efficient than just using the vacuum cleaner. Still, use the vacuum cleaner at the end to pick up any dust and small hairs that still remain.
Remove the smell of wet dog
Does the furniture smell like wet dog? Sometimes it takes cleaning products or hiring a proper carpet cleaner, but it´s worth while to try the baking soda trick first! Sprinkle baking soda over the furniture or textiles that smells, leave it on for a few minutes and then vacuum.

Washing your dog or cat
It's often easier to wash your pet outside, but avoid this if the conditions are not suitable. Even mild products intended for animals can have an impact on nature, and should therefore only be used where there is proper drainage. At the same time, always make sure it doesn't get too hot or cold, so wash the pet in the bathroom if it's time for shampooing or the temperature outside is too low.
Different pets have different needs, depending on their coat type, activity level and state of health. A clean pet naturally makes for a cleaner home, but be considerate.
It's not good to wash them too often. Not sure how often your pet needs a wash? Then it's best to ask your vet or breeder.
Clean in the right order
Shower or bathe your dog (or cat, if you dare) BEFORE you clean the bathroom!
Have you fallen into the trap of cleaning the bathroom for the weekend and then showering the dog? Fur in every corner, on lamps and on the ceiling is never fun, but especially not after spending time cleaning the room.
Clean the fur when it's time to clean the bathroom anyway - and take the opportunity to clean the room when the dog or cat is sent out, clean and dry. And you! Brush through the fur well before bathing - this reduces tangles, but also ensures that fewer hairs are loose and fly between the walls when the dog or cat shakes off the water.
Do you want to treat yourself to more time for cuddling or an extra long walk?
