Vaskehjelp AS has established insurance agreements that cover the assignments agreed between you as a customer and the cleaner booked for the assignment. The insurance only covers the assignments registered and agreed via Vaskehjelp AS, and the scope of assignments agreed through the service. The general work description and user terms and conditions accepted when first registering as a customer or cleaner with Vaskehjelp also apply to the scope of the insurance agreements. Any services beyond this will thus not be covered by the insurance agreement.

Insurances that apply to you as a customer who orders assignments via Vaskehjelp.

As a customer of Vaskehjelp AS, you order assignments via an app or on the website vaskehjelp.no. In the insurance contracts, you who order the assignment are referred to as the “client”, and the person who carries out the assignment as the “contractor”. In other words, this is the insurance-related designation of customer and cleaner, which you will find in the insurance documents.

As a customer and orderer of assignments, you are covered by the following insurances:

  • Liability insurance that covers legal liability for damage to property or persons that the cleaner (contractor) may cause you through the agreed assignment. Liability for damages is determined in accordance with Norwegian laws and legal rules. The sum insured is up to NOK. 10 million per claim.

  • Insurance for loss of keys that covers expenses if the cleaner (contractor) loses or otherwise causes keys to go astray. This will typically involve the cost of replacing locks, security and the like. The sum insured is up to NOK. 300,000 per claim.

  • Crime insurance that covers losses incurred by you as a customer as a result of criminal acts that can be proven/likely to have been committed by the cleaner. It is an absolute requirement that the case must be reported to the police before the case can be reported as an insurance case. The sum insured is up to NOK. 10 million per claim.

It is the provisions of the insurance contract and terms and conditions that apply in relation to what is covered, what is not covered and other provisions. A deductible is specified in the insurance contracts. This does not apply to you as a customer, as it is the deductible that the cleaner/Vaskehjelp AS must pay after you as a customer have had a claim approved and received your compensation. It is important that you familiarize yourself with the insurance terms.

As a customer of Vaskehjelp AS, you do NOT have occupational injury liability for the cleaner

When ordering an assignment via Vaskehjelp AS, you are considered the “client” and order the cleaning assignment from a cleaner (contractor) who is registered with their own company. It is therefore the same as booking an assignment via any other company, and you have no liability in relation to the Occupational Injuries Act.

Liability for personal injury, including insurance obligations under the Occupational Injuries Act, is often a concern for those who hire a private individual to clean for them. It is a moral and legal issue for those who have not ordered the cleaning via a cleaning agency or company. If you end up in a situation where you are obliged to take out occupational injury insurance and do not have occupational injury insurance, you risk having to pay the compensation yourself. This could have enormous financial consequences.

However, as a customer of Vaskehjelp AS, you should be aware that the cleaner is covered by accident insurance that provides compensation for personal injury to the cleaner if he or she suffers an accident while performing work for you. The accident insurance therefore applies to the cleaner, but it’s good to know that the person carrying out the assignment for you is also insured.

Insurances that apply to you as a cleaner who performs assignments via Vaskehjelp.

As a cleaner with Vaskehjelp AS, you receive assignments via the Vaskehjelp app and on vaskehjelp.no. In the insurance contracts, you who carry out the assignment are referred to as the “contractor” and the person who orders the assignment as the “client”. In other words, this is the insurance-related designation of cleaner and customer, which you will find in the insurance documents.

As a cleaner and the person carrying out assignments, you are covered by the following insurances:

  • Accident insurance that covers personal injury as a result of an accidental event during the performance of assignments ordered and confirmed via Vaskehjelp. The insurance also applies to direct travel between home and the place of assignment, as well as direct travel between different places of assignment. In the event of an accident, the following compensation items are covered:

  • Treatment expenses incurred

  • Lost income, limited to income from assignments via Vaskehjelp AS in the period until the permanent consequences of the damage have been determined.

  • Acquisition compensation, compensation for future loss of income limited to income earned via Vaskehjelp AS

  • Trade compensation

  • Death compensation

  • Please refer to the policy certificate and terms and conditions for full details of the insurance cover, exclusions and limitations

  • Liability insurance that covers legal liability for damage to property or persons that you as a cleaner (contractor) may cause the customer through the agreed assignment. Liability for damages is determined in accordance with Norwegian laws and legal rules. The sum insured is up to NOK. 10 million per claim. Your excess in the event of damage is NOK. 10.000,-.

  • Insurance for loss of keys that covers expenses if you as a cleaner (contractor) lose or otherwise cause keys to go astray. This will typically involve the cost of replacing locks, security and the like. The sum insured is up to NOK. 300,000 per claim. Your excess in the event of damage is NOK. 10.000,-.

  • Crime insurance that covers losses incurred by the customer as a result of criminal acts that it can be proven/likely that you as a cleaner have committed. It is an absolute requirement that the case must be reported to the police before the case can be reported as an insurance case. The requirement to report to the police is an important factor in ensuring that only well-founded claims are made. The sum insured is up to NOK. 10 million per claim. Your excess is NOK. 10.000,-.

Liability and crime insurance ensures that you, as a cleaner with your own registered company, have the insurance arrangements for customers that it is normal for all companies to establish. Please note that the insurance only applies to you as a sole proprietorship. If others are employed in your company, you and your company will no longer be covered by the collective insurance scheme via Vaskehjelp AS.

It is important to report and document damage as early as possible.

Feel free to take photos and attach them to the damage report. If the damage needs to be inspected, it is important that you make contact quickly and do not clean up or change conditions at the site of the damage. However, you must take the necessary measures to avoid damage or increase the extent of the damage.

Damage can be reported by both you as a customer and by the cleaner. Reporting damage “immediately and without undue delay” is a great advantage, but according to the provisions of the Insurance Contracts Act, damage must be reported within one year.
